NIPO – Nfield Integration

Estimated reading: 5 minutes

In this guide, you will learn how to link ReDem® with NIPO's Nfield survey software to perform real-time quality control.

Create questionnaire in Nfield

1. Create the questionnaire (.odin script) in Nfield.

Make sure you include enough data points for quality checking, i.e., open-ended questions and grid questions.

For more information on adding quality checks, click here.

Select quality checks in ReDem®

2. Now log into your ReDem® account and click on the »Live Import« tab.

  • Give the survey a name and select »NIPO« as your survey software from the drop-down menu.
  • Then click the button »Next Step«.

3. If you are using the NIPO integration for the first time, a dialog will open. In this dialog, please enter your Nfield Manager credentials to link the accounts.

After you have filled in all the fields, please click on the button »Link Account« to complete the procedure. If the link was successful, the notification »Successfully linked Nfield account with ReDem®« will appear and the dialog will close automatically.

4. Determine whether you want to use the total survey duration as a quality criterion.

  • If so, the first question in the survey should have a quality criterion and the checkbox "Questionnaire starts here" must be enabled.
  • After selecting the first quality criterion, you will get a preview of the credits needed per interview.

5. Go through your questionnaire from top to bottom and select your items that you want to use for the quality checks.

As a practical tip, we recommend the use of two screens. Open the .odin script on one screen and use the other screen for ReDem®.

  • When you have selected the first item in the questionnaire, click the »Add new page« button.
  • Enter an individual name for the page.
    • It is recommended to choose the same name as in the Odin script so that the code snippet can be assigned more easily later.
  • Specify which quality checks you want to perform. Currently, you can use the following items as quality checks.
      • Open-ended questions
      • Grid questions
      • Duration
      • You can also always combine open question and grid question checking with time duration.
      • »Save« your specifications and repeat this step until you have specified all the quality checks you want.
      • Then click the »Done« button

Set cleaning preferences

6. Decide if you want the interviews to be cleaned live or if you want to leave the cleaning feature disabled.

  • When activating the cleaning feature, it is recommended to keep the default values. These values are based on our experience and ensure high data quality for the remaining interviews (Approved).
  • Interviews that are below the specified thresholds are removed (Rejected).
  • You can always adjust the cleaning settings later.

Insert ReDem® Code-Snippets into the Odin Script

7. Open the integration guide.

8. Please follow the integration instructions to finish linking ReDem® to your survey in Nfield Manager.

  • Please follow the instructions and click on the button »Done« once you have completed all steps.
  • You can view the instructions again at a later time.
  • Upload the .odin script with the ReDem Code-Snipets to Nfield Manager. The existing questionnaire will be replaced.
  • Save the questionnaire and publish the survey by clicking the button »Publish« in Nfield Manager.

Check and Test the Datatransfer

9. Create test interviews to ensure all data is transferred correctly to ReDem®.

  • Click the button »Start Fieldwork«to enable the creation of test data records.
  • Create test data records to verify that data is transferred correctly to the ReDem® Dashboard.
  • We recommend simulating both good quality and poor quality data records.

In Nfield Manager, respondents who receive a score above the specified cleanup threshold should be marked as Approved in the"Quality Control" section , while respondents whose score is below this limit are classified as Rejected.

10. Remove the test interviews from ReDem® and Nfield Manager.

Remove the test data before you start the field phase. To do this, proceed as follows:

  • Open the data table and select all entries that are test records.
  • Then click the »Delete data records« button.
  • Delete the test data records from Nfield Manager by clicking the "Delete" button in the Sample and Invitations area. Confirm the security query by clicking on the checkmark.

11. You can now start the field phase.

During data collection - Live Report

  • After the data collection has been started, you have the possibility to view the quality check live. All charts are updated in real time.
  • If required, you can also adjust the cleaning settings during data collection.
    • Please note that the new cleaning settings will only affect future interviews.

Finish data collection

  • After the data collection is completed, you can change the status of the data import from »LIVE« to »FINISHED«.
  • Please note that once the data import is finished, no further interviews can be submitted.
  • However, you have the option to change the status back to »LIVE« at any time.
