Update data file

In this section, we will show you how to update and clean your data file while the survey is still running.

1. Before the first data file update

1. Start the survey and upload the first data as soon as at least 200 cases are available.

2. After the first upload select the option »Clean / Mark«.

3. Select your parameters for cleaning (use the ReDem® recommended limit values).
Interviews with a lower score are excluded automatically. These settings are retained even after the data file has been updated.

4. Export the excluded data by using the option »Export« and selecting »Excluded data-records«.

Note: Also remove these cases from the quotas in your survey tool.
This ensures that there is no negative impact on the quotas at the end of the field phase.

2. Select and upload the updated data file

As soon as there are new data sets / interviews, you can update the data file by clicking »Update data file«.

1. Select the new datafile and ensure that those columns that are needed for the score calculations have the same structure as in the original file.

2. Determine whether the updated file should be cleaned automatically according to the existing clean-up parameters or whether you want to carry out the clean-up yourself later. Existing records will not be changed.

3. Click on »Refresh«.

Note that in the updated datafile there will be exactly those records as in the selected datafile. Data records that were in the original file, but are not there in the new datafile will be removed.

Credit charge: Credits are only calculated for additional interviews. By doing so, it is ensured that there is no difference in the credit calculation, regardless the frequency and time of updates.

4. Repeat this process as often as needed until the survey is complete.
