File formats and data structure

Estimated reading: 1 Minute

Here we show you which data structure and data format your data file must have in order to be processed.

File formats

  • Currently only .xlsx (Microsoft® Excel) files are supported.
  • Depending on your browser, data files may only contain a limited number of characters in order to be processed:
    • Google Chrome: 5242878 characters (recommended)
    • Mozilla Firefox: 5242883 characters
    • Microsoft Edge: 122070 characters

Data structure

  • Make sure that all relevant data is on one spreadsheet. If the data file contains several spreadsheets, only the first spreadsheet is read.
  • Column captions from other spreadsheets are currently not taken over.
  • Rows: Data sets / interviews must be specified at row level (1 data set / interview corresponds to 1 line).
  • Columns: Questions, ID, item batteries, and other survey data must be specified at the column level.
  • After the end of the last record, the table must be empty and must not contain any further values.
  • Important note: Ensure that there are no empty cells or duplicates in the column headers!
