Specify open-ended question(s)

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

In this post, we will explain how you can determine and select open-ended questions for the quality check.

1. Determine data

Determine the data by selecting »Open Ended Question - OES«.

Define Data - OES

2. Select column

  • Select the column containing the open-ended responses.
  • All answers to one open-ended question have to be in the same column.

3. Enable or Disable Context check

  • The context check can be enabled seperately, and it detects answers that are not topic-related or question-related. Further explained, the context surrounding the question is checked using the specified keywords and the question posed.
  • This option should only be enabled if the questions are descriptive enough or contain several relevant keywords.
  • Please note that this feature can only be enabled or disabled for all open-ended questions.

4. Enable or disable duplicate check

  • Duplicate checks are enabled by default and detect duplicate answers and respondents. However, they can also be deactivated if there are too many false positive detections or if duplicate detection is simply not desired.

5. Enter Question Title

  • Enter the exact wording of your open-ended question (character limit: 250 characters).
Add question title - specify OES - DE

6. Indicate Keywords

  • Enter several meaningful keywords for context checking.
  • Please ensure that the context range of the keywords is sufficiently broad to avoid misinterpretations which could lead to false positive evaluations.
  • The keywords entered for the first question are automatically used for all further open-ended questions, but can be changed as desired.

7. Select languages

  • By specifying languages, it is possible to check whether the answers were entered in the correct language.
  • If no languages are selected, the languages are not being checked.
  • Please note that the question and associated keywords must be entered in one of the selected languages.
  • Questions without linguistic information (e.g. on brand awareness) are unsuitable for the language check.

8. Add further open-ended questions and save

  • Clik on »Continue« and add further open-ended questions, by clicking on the button »Specify additional column« below.
  • When all open-ended questions are selected, confirm your entries by clicking »Save«.
